In a major policy development for Nepal's foreign employment sector, the Government of Nepal has opened the way for licensed private recruitment agencies to facilitate the placement of skilled Nepali workers in South Korea under the E-7 (Specially Designated Activities) visa category through a business-to-business (B2B) recruitment model. The move marks a significant expansion of overseas employment opportunities beyond the existing Employment Permit System (EPS) for unskilled workers.

The decision enables licensed manpower companies to recruit qualified Nepali professionals and skilled workers for South Korean employers, provided they comply with the recruitment procedures and regulations established by the Government of Nepal and the Republic of Korea. Unlike the EPS (E-9) program, which operates under a government-to-government (G2G) arrangement, the E-7 pathway is intended for skilled occupations and is managed through private recruitment agencies under approved procedures.

The E-7 visa is designed for workers with recognized technical skills, professional qualifications, or relevant work experience in occupations approved by South Korean authorities. Depending on the occupation, applicants may be required to demonstrate Korean language proficiency, technical certification, or previous industry experience before receiving employment approval.

Industry experts believe the policy could create new opportunities for skilled Nepali workers in sectors such as manufacturing, engineering, information technology, hospitality, construction, food processing, and other specialized industries where South Korea continues to experience labor shortages.

Authorities have emphasized that all recruitment must be conducted through licensed manpower agencies and in accordance with the Foreign Employment Act, ensuring transparency, worker protection, and compliance with both Nepali and South Korean regulations. Job seekers are encouraged to verify recruitment notices carefully and avoid unauthorized agents or fraudulent offers.

Manpower Global Services will continue to monitor official announcements from the Government of Nepal and South Korean authorities and provide timely updates on E-7 recruitment, eligibility requirements, approved occupations, and application procedures for Nepali job seekers.
